Game Recap - Greenville FC June 20
It was a hard fought battle tonight by both teams as the Emerald Force hosted the Greenville FC. Both Emerald and Greenville had plenty of looks at goal, but it was the Force who were able to convert more as they come out with a 4-1 win over Greenville FC.
Greenville FC showed up and got rolling early as they converted a cross into a goal in the 5th minute. After that, the Force cracked down on their defense and held Greenville scoreless for the remaining 85 minutes.
In the 21st minute, Rury Alvarez sent the ball into the box off of a free kick which was bounced around a couple times and then headed in by Kensho Yoshikoshi tying the game up at 1 a piece. Later on, Rury Alvarez got another free kick and decided to take this one for himself. Alvarez sent the ball to the bottom corner of the goal and just squeezed it by the keeper, giving Emerald a 2-1 lead going into halftime.
After almost 40 minutes of scoreless soccer, an Emerald free kick was knocked into the Greenville net by a Greenville player. This own goal gave the Force a 3-1 lead in the 75th minute. Not long after, Kyle Hellman found himself in a one on one breakaway with the Greenville keeper where he placed the ball in the bottom corner, pushing the Force lead to 4-1. The Force cruised the rest of the way and secured a 4-1 victory over Greenville FC.
