Game Recap - Asheville City Soccer Club June 9
Despite the constant offensive attacks and pressure by the Asheville City Soccer Club, the Emerald Force fought hard and found themselves escaping a tough one with a 2-0 victory in Knoxville.
The Asheville City Soccer Club possessed the ball most of the game but it was the Force who struck first as Alexander Garuba netted a goal in the 37th minute. Emerald played most of the game a man down, after an early red card was assessed to Ashley Kelynack of the Force. Kelynack was called for a simple foul but was accused of kicking the ball at the opposing player after the foul, this earned him a straight red car in the 40' minute.
Asheville City tried to take advantage of having an extra player by continually bombarding the Force with attacks. However, because of stellar play by the Emerald defense and some incredible saves by goalkeeper Marty Baker, Asheville City could not connect with the back of the net.
The Emerald Force defense was led by the phenomenal play of defensive man Kensho Yoshikoshi. Yoshikoshi fought for every ball and because of his fight and determination, he found himself netting Emerald's second goal of the game in stoppage time. The Force would cruise from there to secure a 2-0 victory over the Asheville City Soccer Club.
The Emerald Force men's team will be back in action again on Thursday at 7:00pm against Asheville City Soccer Club as they travel to Memorial Stadium in Asheville.
